87 of Seven Lakes West died Tuesday, February 9 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, Biscoe, NC on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church.

 

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joyce T. Loney,  his son, Donald Loney of Fairfax, VA and Margaret (Maggie) Miller of Santa Fe, NM.; Two step-children, Benjamin Badgett and Jan Smith of Sanford, NC. 

He also leaves three grandchildren, Jeff LaConte (Amanda) and Ryan LaConte of St. Augustine, FL and Kelly Davis of Columbia, SC; three step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his brother, Thomas J. Loney (Peggy) and Mary L. Clayton, of Youngstown, OH., and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.  His first wife, Rosemary Thompson Loney and son, Michael P. Loney predeceased him as well as a brother, John A. Loney, and  sister Anne Loney Clifford.

Michael was born March 2, 1928 in Youngstown, OH and was the third child of Emmett A. Loney and Anna Haney Loney.   He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown College.  He was retired from  General Electric Company where he worked as a Human Resources Executive and Sales Representative for over 25 years.  He served his country in the US Marine Corps. from 1952 to 1954.

Michael, known as "Jerry" to his Ohio family and friends, was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He enjoyed his life and his retirement to the Beacon Ridge Golf Community at Seven Lakes West.  He was an excellent golfer and played frequently until his health declined over the past few years.  He will be remembered for his Irish blue eyes and his wonderful sense of humor.
